With an extensive accounting and financial background, Dan Sautner
has taken Padgett Business Services to the forefront of franchised
accounting services for small business throughout the United
States and Canada. In 1999 he spearheaded the launch of company
owned offices in Baltimore, Maryland as well as a payroll services
company, PayTrak, which is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts,
and Montreal, Quebec. In 2001 Sautner stepped down as the CEO
of the organization to work on special projects with the company.
Sautner has written extensively on small business issues, with
articles appearing in such publications as Business Opportunities
Journal and Franchising World. He has appeared on several radio
and television programs, including the nationally syndicated “Business
Day Radio,” and is called upon as an expert resource by
the Wall Street Journal and other business publications, to interpret
the economic shifts in the increasing small business sector.
Sautner devised and is the primary analyst for “Small
Business – The Engine of Our Economy,” a quarterly
study conducted by Padgett from its base of more than 12,000
clients nationwide. Prior to the creation of this survey, there
had been little in the way of quantitative results for small
business as a whole. Sautner has translated the implications
of the survey results for local market media from coast to coast,
including the Cincinnati Enquirer, Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
Orange County Register and the Denver Post.
He has twice been selected by Accounting Today as one of the
100 Most Influential People in the Industry, and his creative
approach to delivering superior service has earned Padgett Accounting
Today’s Gold Medal Award for Achievement in Client Service
twice. Sautner has also received the Franchising Innovation Award
in 1998 and the Franchise of the Year Award in 1999 from the
University of Texas at El Paso.
An Athens, Georgia resident, Sautner graduated from the University
of Waterloo (BA, 1977) and is a member of the Canadian Institute
of Chartered Accountants (1981). Sautner currently serves as
Chair of the Georgia Unit of Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic
and is a member of the National Tax Education Institute Advisory
Council.
