The samples are averaged over the entire industry code, although for clients, we have separate samples by business size for closer comparisons. Larger samples tend to be more representative than smaller ones and definition of business industry may be subjective according to the client. Some industries may overlap. We show Sales, Cost of Goods Sold and the eleven most common expenses. Expenses unique to individual businesses in the samples are grouped into “Other Expense”.
